Born in Belgrade, a city rich in history and culture, I have always felt a deep connection to art. My journey as an artist did not begin suddenly; it was filled with exploration, learning, and a constant search for ways to express my inner impulses. Growing up, I was captivated by the works of classical masters such as Dürer, Botticelli, and Michelangelo. Their precision, elegance, and dedication to detail left an indelible mark on my work. But they were not my only influences. Ancient Mesopotamian art and Egyptian wall paintings also shaped my artistic sensibility, giving me a sense of the monumentality and timelessness that art can convey.
I graduated with a Master of Fine Arts in painting from the University of Arts in Belgrade in 1998, where I gained the knowledge and skills that allowed me to explore various mediums and styles. My interest in abstract and figurative art, as well as in traditional Javanese Wayang painting, led me on a path to creating something unique and authentic. However, what has always been at the core of my work is color and drawing – these are the fundamental elements through which I express the vitality and energy of life.
In my works, I have always sought to convey what lies beneath the surface of consciousness – the inner impulses that emerge as a first reaction to the world around me. Every brushstroke, every line, and every color carries a part of me, a part of my inner world that I try to express through art. Art has always been more than just technique or style for me; it has been a means through which I explore myself and the world I live in.
Over the years, I have participated in more than 70 group exhibitions and held over 30 solo exhibitions across more than six countries. Each of these experiences has brought me new insights and allowed me to grow as an artist. I am proud of the awards I have received, but they have always been less important to me than the process of creation and expression itself.
I now live in Tivat, a place where I have found new inspiration and where I recently completed one of my most significant projects – a mosaic for the luxury complex Porto Montenegro. This mosaic, covering an area of 9.4 square meters, represents the culmination of my years of exploration in form, color, and composition. Through this project, I had the opportunity to merge all aspects of my work – from classical figuration to abstract elements and the tradition of Wayang painting.
Every time I look back on my journey, I see that my work has always been driven by an inner need to create something authentic, something that reflects my personal perception of the world. Art is my way of communicating with the world, of conveying the emotions, thoughts, and dreams that are a part of me. Every painting, every mosaic, and every drawing carries a piece of that story.
Today, as I work in my studio in Tivat, I feel that each new work is an opportunity to connect with my roots while also exploring new horizons. Although my style has evolved over the years, the essence has remained the same—the need to convey through art what is essential, what is universal, and what connects us all.
