ART AS A JOURNEY

FROM SURFACE TO SUBTLETY

When I look back at my artistic journey, I realize how deeply interconnected my experiences and explorations are, like invisible threads forming a complex tapestry. Every series of paintings, every brushstroke, every moment of inspiration has led me deeper into the realm of subtlety, into what lies beneath the surface.

I began with what seemed simple – the study of the human body. It was a linear exploration, focused on understanding form, movement, and what is visible at first glance. But as I applied paint to the canvas, I realized that it wasn’t just about the body as a physical object. The color, the layers I added, began to reveal something deeper to me – the surface not just as a visual manifestation, but as a medium for exploring subtle sensations.

Then I took it a step further. In my next series, I decided to focus on the surface, not just on color as an aesthetic element. I began to explore tactility – the feeling of touch, the materials that create depth and texture. Gauze, for example, became a key element in one of the series. Its delicacy allowed me to express a certain subtlety that, in a way, resonated with the delicacy of meditation. With that material, I was able to capture the fragility of drawing, the subtlety of what isn’t seen but is felt.

What surprised me most during this process was how all these series, explorations, and reflections connected into a cohesive whole. Art, often treated as a series of brushstrokes, became much more for me. More than just paint on canvas, more than form. Art became an exploration of the essence, the subtle forces that move our inner reality. Material, structure, color—all of these are merely manifestations of something deeper, something that is expressed through art but is not art itself.

For a long time, I didn’t allow myself to verbalize these thoughts. I felt that people would find them too abstract and that they would lose the essence of what I was trying to convey. But now, after years of work and exploration, I understand that it is precisely this abstraction that we need to explore. We have become too simplified, too focused on the obvious, on the body as a collection of muscles and bones. But in truth, what drives us, what I believe drives every art form, is that subtlety, that invisible impulse that cannot easily be explained with words.

Today, when I talk about my work when I speak about my series on platforms like Facebook, I feel that my goal is to guide people into the abstract existence of ourselves. Art is not just visual. It is a journey into what is subtle, into what is hidden beneath the surface, into what is essential for our existence.

Through this journey in life and art, through my painting series and meditative explorations, everything has come together. Every brushstroke, every layer of gauze, every application of paint carries a fragment of that elusive, subtle world that I try to convey. And perhaps this is what keeps driving me forward—the desire to explore, to understand, and to share that subtlety of our souls, the depth that lies beneath everything we call art.
